Istanbul Soundscape Project günlük kent yaşamına işitsel bir perspektiften yaklaşarak İstanbul’un akustik ekolojisi üzerine projeler geliştiren ve şehrin akustik mimarisini sahiplenin bir oluşum. İlk olarak İstanbul’un hali hazırda sahip olduğu ses manzarasını/ses ekolojisini/şehir akustiğini arşivlemeyi amaçlayan proje, benzer konularla ilgilenen STK ve derneklerle işbirliği yaparak İstanbul’un geleceğini etkileyecek kentleşme politikalarıyla alakalı farkındalık yaratma ve çözümler üretme konusunda önemli bir aktör olmayı hedefliyor.
A House in Tarlabasi
The house gives us a break, calmness, and comfort against the demands of the outside world. Putting out our shoes, making tea, sitting on the sofa, and silence. The home is a constant and effective concept where all other areas are balanced and experienced. Every evening we sit in a familiar-shaped emotional space, from the chairs and cups we love, to ‘house’, a space where everything finds it’s place and where our relatives are built around a set of common values, rituals, and performances.
Using recorded sounds from Tarlabasi, the Istanbul Soundscape Project gives us information about the acoustic atmosphere of the region and captures the idea of home and the paradox of the constantly changing ‘home’ due to urban development, and the realities of living with new “noisy neighbors”.
